The North Valley and Silver Falls Chapter had repaired the Horse Corals at Mission State Park in 2012, so the park management (Park Ranger Bonny Shepard) once again contacted us for another project to replace the outdoor arena fencing near the Equestrian Parking area. The old one had been there for a number of years and most of the post were rotted off and beginning to fall over. The park had budgeted for material to replace the arena but needed volunteer assistance to replace the arena next to the equestrian parking area.
We completed the replacement in two days, the first was on May 9th, 2014 and the second was on May 19th. The old arena was removed and new post installed the first day and a little over a week later the new rails were installed. We installed the new posts into the same holes, the first issue to solve was getting all the old broken posts out of the ground and keeping the loose gravel from falling back into the hole as the auger on the tractor drilling. Many holes had to be hand dug to remove the broken posts and the loose gravel. Not to worry but the eventually won battle of the holes and got all the new posts placed.
A special thanks to Marty DeVall, North Valley Chapter and Nancy Netwal, Silver Falls Chapter for getting the volunteers lined up to work.
