About Our Chapter

Meetings first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM, Pleasant Ridge Community Hall, 7067 SW Canal Blvd., Redmond, OR 97756. There is a optional Pot Luck starting at 6pm, come join us.

Central Oregon Chapter was formed in 1989 under the direction of Laura White and John Grant. Since that time we have grown to over 100 members. We have quite a few chapter “fun rides” each year.  Our group is composed of a variety of riders and riding styles and we all have fun out on the trail. We hope you will join us.

We also do a lot of volunteer work to keep our local trails and horse camps open:

• Our chapter has adopted Sisters Cow Camp (just west of Sisters) and Swamp Wells Horse Camp (south of Bend), and our volunteers help keep these Horse Camps open as no-fee campgrounds.  It was our chapter that initiated the revival of the Horse Butte Trail System and the rebuild of Swamp Wells Horse Camp.
• We help Chapter members that adopted portions of the Metolius Windigo Trail maintain and keep it clear of brush and downed logs utilizing our X-cut & Chainsaw Certified Members.
• We organize horseback rides in the Badlands to haul away any trash that we find.

We have regular Work Parties to tackle these projects, and in addition to the satisfaction of getting the trails clear and the Horse Camps maintained, we have a lot of fun, enjoy each others’ company, and some Work Parties are on horseback!
The year ends with our Christmas potluck and gift exchange where we hand out Certificates of Appreciation for all members who have donated 20 hours or more towards our Mission.
